I live in San Francisco, and I like fancy cocktails. I love to experiment at home with interesting combinations and infusions. The way that alcohol picks up the flavors of anything you put in it is a source of never-ending fascination for me. I also like fancy cocktail bars and lounges. Some of my favorites are Bourbon and Branch, Churchill, and Blackbird, but I’m always looking for new places to explore.
I do a lot of other things unrelated to making and drinking cocktails, but a blog’s got to have a theme, right? In trying to come up with a theme around which to base a new blog, I thought about the things I love to do, and the things I am good at. Rejected ideas included: knitting (I’m not all that good at it), vegan cooking (cuz I’m a vegan, but there are so many food blogs already), triathlon (too narrow, and I’m not all that fast), and a blog called “S*#%t Kids Say,” which might still happen…I’ve been a teacher for a lot of years, and the things my students come up with are hilarious.
But cocktails seemed the most interesting, and the most universally impressive, so Savage On The Rocks was born. Pull up a chair, relax, and enjoy a cocktail with me. Try some of the recipes, or use them as inspiration to experiment with your own flavor combinations. Happy sipping!
